So, went to Plaza Singapura to get fabric paint & acrylic paint for robotics. Met Mr Koh and Ms Kang at Plaza Singapura, Burger King. Mr Koh was playing Scrabble with someone and Ms Kang was on her laptop. Ms Kang was waiting for Mr Koh. How sweet. :P

Yesterday, had BBQ at Liah's house! Actually, went there to visit her because she was sick but ended up entertaining her guests. LOL. It was so fun! I stayed there till 10.30pm before my mum had to call me to go home... Heh.

Today, while on the MRT, I was asleep when suddenly the train stopped. Guess what? A person had actually fallen on the tracks. Reached Yew Tee and saw the notice informing that the train service had been disrupted... It was scary.

Lately, I've been like pestering all the robotics girls. I feel terrible but I have no other choice... Friday's the deadline for the submission of journal and team website... So, we really need to quicken ourselves. I feel terrible, having a headache. I'm supposed to put up the picture in the Saintics blog... I feel groggy. I should do that tomorrow. I'm having a terrible headache.. Goodnight.

National Day Celebrations in SMSS - It was a lot of fun! We sang and swayed and swayed. During the medley of songs, the teachers, not the choir were the main attraction. They were so cute, dancing to the songs! It was a great National Day celebration!

Before NDP 2004 - We rushed to get a place in the MRT trains, packed with people, some going for the parade, others going elsewhere. Singapore's number one characteristic was evident in the air. Hours before the NDP started, already crowds were making their way to the stadium. And we were one of those "kiasu" ones. When we reached Kallang, a sea of red flooded the MRT station. At that moment, I felt so proud to be a Singaporean. And even more proud that I was going to be part of the NDP celebrations.

At the stadium - We were instructed to sit in one of the middle rows. Mum wanted to sit higher up so that we could see the formation but it could not be helped. It was 2 hours to the Pre-parade show. The sun was scorching. Dad was sitting at the grand stand. Lucky. He got some shade there. So, we ate our home-cooked bee hoon and drank iSport, set up our torchlights and watched the giant screen for some entertainment. At 5pm, most of the seats were filled. We waited for the pre-parade show.

NDP 2004 - 5.30PM. The emcees came in style, riding on motorbikes. We were told how to shake our shakers, beat our drums and sway our torchlights. Then, we all did the Kallang wave, over and over. We sang the birthday song and waited for the parade to start... Finally the contingent marched in with pride. Throughout the parade, people were waving their Singapore flags, even nighttime when it was nearly impossible to see the flags. The PM came, then the president... PM Goh's appearance got everyone to their feet, cheering, clapping, waving our flags and shaking our shakers. It will be his last parade as PM and we will miss him. He has done so much for us...

The cannons bombed. The gunshots echoed in the stadium... Then, the fireworks, dances, fireworks, more acts and more fireworks. All this time, you can see flashes from cameras and the beautiful lights from the torchlights. The national anthem, the pledge, everything was done with pride. You can see the joy and pride in the faces of the Singaporeans gathered there. Yes, we are proud to be Singaporeans. We sang the medley of songs, swayed our torchlights in unison, shaked our shakers in rhythm. We were all as one, one united people, one Singapore.

The finale, the fireworks display of 3 1/2 minutes. We all stood up and got ready to leave when a voice boomed, asking everyone to take a seat and watch the giant screen. PM Goh's face appeared on the screen and everyone cheered. We watched his life as PM flash past us. His final words on the screen were, "My heart is always with you." Those words were so touching...
-wipes tears-

After NDP 2004 - We walked together as a crowd, as the "NDP audience", and we caused a big jam on the roads. So, we finally got into an MRT train, got a seat and made our way home. Though I'm 1 day late, I must still say this - "Happy Birthday Singapore!!! I love you!"
